Skincare advice by Gina Baker, Training Manager – Germaine de Capuccini UK
Our skin changes from season to season so it’s essential to make alterations in our daily skin care routine.
As the weather cools in Autumn, there is a drop in humidity causing a drier air. We spend more time indoors and eventually the heating is switched on.
The altered environment causes our skin to lose moisture. This dehydration can cause tightness, itching and a general feeling of discomfort. Not to mention an increase in fine lines.
Small tweaks in our routine are essential to keep the skin healthy and looking fresh.
Switch from foaming cleansers to a richer milk or a cleansing oil which will prevent the skin feeling tight.
Invest in serums that contain Hyaluronic acid with a low molecular weight. This will enable to product to absorb to the deepest layers.
Switch from an emulsion to a cream that is richer in essential ceramides and lipids. This will provide extra nourishment and conditioning as well as improve the protection of the skin against toxins and cooler weather.
Exfoliation is essential but don’t overdo it, as the skin becomes more fragile in Autumn. Use a weekly peel with glycolic acid which will help to repair any sun damage.
Include a hydrating mask rich in Vitamin C and ferulic acid to treat pigmentation and brighten the skin.
Don’t forget to protect the lips from the cooler weather and wind. Look for a product that is rich in Panthenol Concentrate which improves hydration of the lips’ most external layer and helps them to regenerate.
Summer may be over but continue with an application of sun protection. Cooler days can still be bright with strong UV rays. Opt for a lighter emulsion that provides not only UV protection but blue light filters for the longer hour in front of your screen.
