The Best Dog-Friendly Beaches in the UK for Walks, Paddles and Summer Days
With brighter mornings, longer evenings and the first real taste of spring sunshine arriving across the UK, many dog owners are already planning their next great day out — and the beach is top of the list.
Searches for dog-friendly beaches near me are on the rise as pet lovers look for scenic coastal spots where their four-legged companions can run free, paddle in the shallows and enjoy a change of scenery after winter. Now, new research has revealed the very best dog-friendly beaches in Britain, offering plenty of inspiration for spring strolls and summer adventures alike.

After analysing Google ratings and reviews for 148 beaches with no dog restrictions, home improvement specialists Showers to You have ranked the UK’s most welcoming seaside destinations for dogs.
The UK’s Top Dog-Friendly Beach
Claiming the number one spot is Durdle Door in Dorset, which scored an impressive 8.85 out of 10.
Already one of Britain’s most iconic coastal landmarks thanks to its dramatic limestone arch and sweeping Jurassic Coast views, Durdle Door is also a dream location for dogs and their owners. Wide open space, fresh sea air and spectacular scenery make it ideal for everything from a gentle morning walk to a full-throttle game of fetch.
Sharing second place are Man O’War Beach in Dorset and Three Cliffs Bay in Glamorgan, both scoring 8.30 out of 10.
Man O’War Beach offers calmer waters and a more sheltered setting, perfect for dogs who enjoy a paddle rather than charging into waves. Meanwhile, Three Cliffs Bay is famous for its expansive sands, rolling dunes and wild natural beauty — ideal for energetic dogs who like to roam.

Why Dogs Love the Beach
Few places offer dogs as much freedom and stimulation as the coast. New scents, open space, cooling sea breezes and endless room to run make beaches one of the best outdoor experiences for many breeds.

Martin Smith, owner of Showers to You, said:
“With longer days and warmer weather on the horizon, more people are looking to spend quality time outdoors with their pets. Beaches are a fantastic option; not only do they provide plenty of space for exercise, but the sea can help keep dogs cool during hotter days.”
He also reminded owners to plan responsibly by bringing fresh water, avoiding the hottest part of the day and checking local seasonal restrictions before travelling.
The Perfect Time to Plan a Coastal Escape
As temperatures begin to climb and summer edges closer, now may be the ideal moment to start mapping out dog-friendly weekends away.
Whether you choose Dorset’s famous archways, Cornwall’s wild coves or Devon’s endless beaches, Britain has no shortage of spectacular places where both you and your dog can make the most of the season.
