Snoring is even more of a bugbear for British women, with a staggering 76% resenting this habit.

Moreover, 31% of Brits say that their sleep is currently being negatively impacted by their partner snoring.

However, despite snoring being such a loathed bedtime behaviour, 54% of Brits have been told they snore while they sleep.

Reduce Snoring

So, to help, the experts at DUSK have shared simple tips for to reduce snoring for those who might be more prone:

1.    Sleep on your side

A tried-and-true trick, sleeping on your side is one of the easiest ways to minimise snoring. This is because when positioning yourself on your side, you help keep your airways open, which will reduce snoring while asleep.

If you typically fall asleep on your front or back, then you can actually train your body to sleep more naturally on your side. All you need to do is tactically place pillows around your body when in your side sleeping position. This helps stop you shifting too much in your sleep or turning over onto your back.

2.    Use firm, elevated pillows

Although some people find it more comfortable to sleep with their head resting flat on the bed, snoring sleeper should aim to tilt their head higher.

By elevating your head by just a couple inches, you prevent your tongue from blocking your throat and you make it easier for your sinuses to drain (two common causes of snoring!). In general, try using firmer pillows – or two flatter pillows at the same time – to give your partner some peace.

3.    Aid allergies

For many people, snoring is caused (or at least worsened) by allergies to irritants, such as pollen and dust.

So, make sure you’re taking the necessary steps to avoid allergens in your sleeping space. This includes washing your bedsheets at least every other week, vacuuming your mattress once a week, showering before you get into bed, and using natural dust repellents while cleaning.
