Six restaurants in Tel Aviv ranked amongst the top ‘50 Best Restaurants in Middle East and North Africa’
For two years running, six restaurants in Tel Aviv have been ranked among the top ‘50 Best Restaurants in the Middle East and North Africa’.
Home to some of Israel’s most passionate and well-regarded chefs, the six award winning restaurants produce cuisine ranging from modern Israeli fare and neo-Japanese fine dining to creative Turkish and Persian dishes. It is unsurprising therefore that Tel Aviv has gained an established reputation as a culinary capital, with its melting pot of various cuisines, flavours and spices. Tel Aviv’s George & John restaurant has been recognised as the ‘Best Restaurant in Israel 2023’, whilst Tel Aviv’s OCD Restaurant has been acknowledged with the ‘Sustainable Restaurant Award 2023’, with its eco-conscious Israeli gastronomy created by Chef Raz Rahav.
George and John (no.6, Best Restaurant in Israel 2023): Led by Head Chef Tomer Tal, this award-winning restaurant combines flavours from Tomer Tal’s Jewish-Moroccan heritage, using ingredients from Tel Aviv’s traditional Carmel Market. Located in Tel Aviv’s Drisco Hotel, one of the country’s very first modern hospitality establishments, the restaurant has been a treasured asset to the city. The restaurant’s signature dishes centre around charcoal-based grills where meats are prepared in traditionally Middle Eastern practices.

OCD (no.14, Sustainable Restaurant Award 2023): Trademarked as “progressive Israeli cooking”, Head Chef Raz Rahav wants his dishes to be at the cutting edge of Israeli gastronomy, with next level local produce. With just 19 seats in its intimate restaurant setting, OCD’s atmosphere is one of exclusivity and elegance. Solely using ingredients that arrive at the restaurant each morning, OCD has made a commitment to sustainable practices. The restaurant’s efforts to minimise their wastage is what sets them apart from many traditional establishments, with every inch of local produce put to use.
A by Yuval Ben Neriah (no.24): Only opening in 2022, this new addition to Tel Aviv’s list of award winners, ‘A’ has quickly gained itself a reputation as a key contender in Tel Aviv’s gastronomic scene. Using Japanese techniques and practices, Head Chef Yuval Ben Neriah and his team work tirelessly to produce exemplary Japanese dishes using fresh Israeli produce.

Animar (no.32): Growing up in a Jewish Persian-Libyan house, Head Chef Hilel Tavakuli has established a casual fine-dining restaurant in Tel Aviv filled with dishes from a mix of Turkish and Persian traditions. With panoramic views of Tel Aviv’s beach, the restaurant blends relaxed beachside dining with some of the finest food in the city.
Milgo & Milbar (no. 40): This casual fine dining restaurant, located on the happening Rothschild Avenue in Tel Aviv, creates a light and energetic atmosphere with vibrant music and showroom cooking. With fresh-faced Head Chef Moti Titman heading up the establishment at the age of 38, Moti Titman strives to produce cuisine that is both contemporary and inherently Tel-Avivan, incorporating local seasonal vegetables, seafood and meat.
HaBasta (no.48): HaBasta restaurant is an exciting blend of a bustling market and dining restaurant, with daily handcrafted menus and informal waiters. With dishes changing daily depending on the influx of local market produce, the cuisine produced is extremely authentic to the nearby Carmel Shuk, Tel Aviv’s biggest produce market. Whilst the restaurant is renowned for its food, the resident sommeliers will also help guests pair some of the finest Israeli wines to their cuisine.
If a restaurant wants to be known to everyone, in addition to the restaurant’s taste and environment, if you want to increase the restaurant’s popularity, a marketing strategy is also indispensable. If you are running a restaurant or planning to start a restaurant-related business, then you can choose to customize some enamel pins to give to your guests as promotional gifts. Custom enamel pins are very beautiful and practical, and you can add your logo and some iconic pictures to promote your business.
