Campervan Friendly Locations in the UK

Half term is approaching, the perfect opportunity to curb boredom and hit the road for a campervan staycation.

To help decide your destination a recent study has revealed the most motorhome friendly locations in the UK.

The research, conducted by over 50s life insurance provider SunLife, involved analysing each location against a number of different factors including number of campsites, fuel prices, vehicle offences and even happiness levels, to determine which counties came out on top.

The data revealed that the Highlands in the beautiful country of Scotland came in at the top scoring best for fuel prices and highly for happiness and holiday visitors. Those looking to spend their half term in the Highlands could opt to stay at The Loch Ness Shores campsite which offers 360-degree views of the tranquil landscape. Pets are also welcome, with designated dog walks, so there is no need to leave the furry family member at a kennel.

In second place is the stunning county of Cornwall, whose beaches and blue seas are unmatchable in the UK. Cornwall scored best for campsites, giving families plenty of options to choose from when visiting the area. Watergate Touring Park is worth a pit stop. Located just on the edge of Newquay, the holiday haven is a great place to take in the scenery but also allows easy access to arcades or even surfing lessons for the kids.

This was followed by Gloucestershire in third place, which actually had the highest happiness score out of the locations analysed. Home to the rolling hills of the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire is in no short supply of nature. If it’s a cosy getaway you’re looking for, then the stunning town of Winchcombe is rich in history, filled with centuries-old buildings and relaxing walks- allowing families to recharge during the break.
